Our History

In September, 1995, Mount Zion was prayerfully led to call Rev. Roy C. Johnson to pastor Mount ZIon. Rev. Johnson accepted and was installed on November 12, 1995. Rev. Johnson a faithful, devoted “Man of God” had a vision of accomplishing many new tasks throughout the church. Numerous improvements were continuously being made to the building of Mount Zion, while conferences, convention, spirit filled meetings were held to uplift our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. From 2003 to 2006 a great deal of improvements were made under Pastor Johnson’s leadership. After Pastor Roy C. Johnson transitioned to be with our heavenly father, Mount Zion was under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Gurly, Rev. Rhones and Rev. Wilmer E. Cooper. In 2015 Rev. Cooper accepted the call to pastor the Western Avenue Baptist Church in Oklahoma City.

On May 2, 2016 the Lord led Mount Zion to call Rev. John-Alfred Credle Jr. as pastor. Rev. Credle is from Brooklyn, New York and relocated to Ardmore, Oklahoma. Rev. Credle is the 13th pastor in Mount Zion’s 128 year history. Pastor credle has a vision that will restore and revitalize Mount Zion to accompliship the great work of discipleship in the commumity of Ardmore and beyond. Pastor Credle is married to Cheron Credle, affeciotnately known as “Lady Credle.” Pastor and Lady Credle have one son and three daughters: Joshua Prince, Jordan Grace, Victory Johanna and Zoe Sonia. Through the help of the Lord, Rev. Credle is leading Mount Zion to higher heights.
